I t was the year 2016 at the time of Pongal and New Jersey happened to be one of the last programmes we were to attend in our schedule. Just a few hours before we were to board a flight to Newark airport my husband met with a small accident. But he was determined to go there as he said all the people would be waiting eagerly and he did not want to dis- appoint them. So with great difficulty we took the flight . We had request- ed for a doctor at New Jersey. True to her word the then president Usha Krishnakumar had arranged Dr Rajaram and his wife Dr Sujanthy Rajaram who took so much care of him. That itself gave us a warm feeling towards the people associated with the sangam. The program was organised so well and finished exactly at the time they said it would. All the participants had perfected their part well in advance. The whole show made us feel so wel- come and we felt like we were in Chennai amongst all the Tamil speaking Indians.
