2013 had been a great year in NJ Tamil Sangam. We had 6 major programs and 4 Sindhanai Vattam programs with all being very unique in their own way.
It started with Pongal program in January with Children cultural, Youth orchestra inauguration with Pragathi Guruprasath on stage in USA for the first time after her super singer victory as runner up. It was a full house with great success.
The Annual Patrons drive was a tremendous success.
In March we had our Sindhanai Vattam inauguration with Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev at our Tamil Sangam event which brought us many unique audience and a big welcome followed by children of popular dance teachers dancing for Bharathiyar songs and the grand finale of Chitra Ramaswamy for Bharathi Panchali Sabhatam which was produced for NJ Tamil Sangam. THe program was well received and appreciated.
We had a noteworthy Sindhanai Vattam Program by Dr. V.C. Chockalingam, a well known cardiologist who gave a great lecture on preventing stress and heart disease.
In April, NJ Tamil Sangam, Stage Friends and Symphony presented a Drama followed by Music as a fund raiser for Sandy. All the profit made was donated to Sandy Victim.
We had Dr. Sunitha Krishnan of Prajwala (she fights against child sex trafficking) visiting us for our Sindhanai Vattam in April. It was a very moving experience for those who attended the program.
In June NJTS together with Tamil Nadu foundation had Kollywood dance stars and a Kavanagam program (multi tasking) by the memory expert Dr. Kalai Cheziyan. This program was very unique and the audience were wonder strucK at the expertise of the artists
In September we had a unique Sindhanai Vattam with Tamil Ilakiyam speech by the great tamil scholars Siva Siva, Elandhai Ramasami and Dr. Va. Ve. Subramanian. We still cannot forget the thought provoking speeches which made us appreciate the Tamil Literature.
In October, we had a Sun TV Kalyanamalai Pattimandram which for the first time in the hstory of NJTS is being telecast in a National Television (Sun TV). The pattimandram program by stalwarts Dr. Solomon Pappaiah, Pattimandram Raja and Bharathi Baskar along with our equally talented local speakers was a tremendous success. This is a unique program as well.
On Deepavali Day NJTS celebrated with the hilarious speech of Actor Director Pandiyarajan (sindhanai Vattam) and distributed Sweets and snacks to the audience. Audience enjoyed the speech.
The last program of the year was the Bharathi Vizha with kids poem recital (Judges were awe struck seeing the talent of the kids) and followed by a very unique Villupattu program by Kavimamani Elandhai Ramasami and team. The program was a great success.
All the programs received standing ovation from the audience and NJTS was appreciated for the quality programs.
2014 is our Silver Jubilee year and we are looking forward to present more quality programs and celebrations throughout the year. NJTS is where we are now due to the tireless work of the committee members and volunteers all through these years. We thank each one of them at this time.
Our Pongal program will start with kids culturals and music program by the ever popular band Jersey Rhythms.

2013ல் நியூஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கத்தின் செயல்பாடுகள்
2013ம் ஆண்டு நியூ ஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கம் நல்ல தரமான ஆறு நிகழ்ச்சிகளை அளித்தது என்பதில் பெருமை கொள்கிறது. செவிக்கும் சிந்தனைக்கும் சுவை சேர்த்த நிகழ்ச்சிகள் அவை.
முதல் நிகழ்ச்சியே முத்தான நிகழ்ச்சியாக அமைந்தது. அதுதான் பொங்கல் நிகழ்ச்சி.
குழந்தைகளின் கலைநிகழ்ச்சி, இளைஞர் இசைக்குழுத் தொடக்கம், சூப்பர் சிங்கர் போட்டியில் ரன்னர் அப் பரிசு பெற்ற பிரகதி குருப்ரசாத் பரிசு பெற்ற பிறகு அமெரிக்காவில் முதன்முதல் நடத்திய இசைநிகழ்ச்சி எனக் கண்ணையும் கருத்தையும் கவரும் வண்ணம் அன்றைய நிகழ்ச்சிகள் அமைந்தன.
ஆண்டுப் புரவலர்களைச் சேர்க்கும் முயற்சியில் நல்ல வெற்றி கண்டோம்.
நியூ ஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கத்தின் ஓரங்கமாகச் செயல்படும் சிந்தனை வட்டத்தின் தொடக்கமே புனிதமாக அமைந்தது. சத்குரு ஜக்கி வாசுதேவ் அளித்த பேருரை தனிச் சிறப்பாக அமைந்தது. அதைத் தொடர்ந்து பாரதியார் பாடல்களுக்கு அபிநயம் பிடித்துக் குழந்தைகள் ஆடினார்கள். பிரபல நாட்டிய ஆசிரியர்கள் தங்கள் மாணவர்களைத் தயார் செய்து அளித்த அற்புத நிகழ்ச்சி அது. அதன் பிறகு நியூஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கத்திற்கென்று பிரத்யேகமாக சித்ரா இராமஸ்வாமி தயாரித்தளித்த பாஞ்சாலி சபதம் நாட்டிய நாடகம் கலையம்சங்கள் நிறைந்ததாகவும் , உணர்ச்சி பூர்வமாகவும் நடைபெற்றது.
ஏப்ரல் மாதத்தில், “சேண்டி” நிவாரணத்திற்காக நியூஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கமும் ஸ்டேஜ் ஃபிரண்ட்ஸ், சிம்பனி ஆகியவையும் இணைந்து நடத்திய நாடகம் மற்றும் இசைநிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது. அந்நிகழ்ச்சிமூலம் பெற்ற மிகுதித் தொகை முழுதும் “சேண்டி”யால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் நிவாரணத்திற்காக வழங்கப்பட்டது.
சிந்தனை வட்டம் சார்பில் ஏப்ரல் மாதத்தில் டாக்டர் சுனிதா கிருஷ்ணன் வழங்கிய உரை நெஞ்சங்களை ஈர்த்தது. அவர் சிறுமியர் பாலியல் வணிகத்தை எதிர்த்துப் போராடுபவர். அன்று நமது நியூஜெர்சி அன்பர்களின் கருணை உள்ளம் தாராளமாக வெளிப்பட்டது.
ஜூன் மாதம் தமிழ்நாடு பவுண்டேஷனுடன் இணைந்து நியூஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கம் கோலிவுட் நடனக் கலைஞர்களின் நிகழ்ச்சியையும், பன்முக அவதானி கவனகர் முனைவர் கலைச் செழியன் நடத்திய அவதான நிகழ்ச்சியையும் மிகச்சிறப்பாக நடத்தியது,.கவனக நிகழ்ச்சி அதன் புதுமையாலும் திறமை வெளிப்பாட்டாலும் அவையோரை மிகவும் வியப்பில் ஆழ்த்தியது.
செப்டம்பர் மாதத்தில் சிந்தனை வட்டம் ஒரு சிறந்த இலக்கிய நிகழ்ச்சியை அளித்தது. கவிஞர் சிவசிவா , கவிமாமணி இலந்தை இராமசாமி, முனைவர், கவிமாமணி வ.வே. சுப்ரமணியம் ஆகிய மூவரும் நிகழ்த்திய இலக்கியச் சொற்பொழிவுகள் நிகழ்ச்சி இன்னும் கொஞ்ச நேரம் தொடர்ந்திருக்கக்கூடாதா என்று அவையோர் எண்ணும் வண்ணம் அமைந்திருந்தது.
அடுத்து அக்டோபர் மாதம் சன் டிவி கல்யாண மாலை பட்டிமன்ற நிகழ்ச்சி. நடுவர் பேராசிரியர் சாலமன் பாப்பையா, பட்டிமன்றம் ராஜா, பாரதி பாஸ்கர் ஆகியோருடன் இணைந்து , திறமையில் சற்றும் குறையாத உள்ளூர் அன்பர்களும் பட்டிமன்றத்தை உச்சிக்கு இட்டுச் சென்றனர்.
தீபாவளி நாளன்று சிந்தனை வட்டத்தின் சார்பாக நகைச்சுவை நடிகர் , இயக்குநர் பாண்டிய ராஜன் கலகலப்பாக உரையாற்றினார். அன்று வந்திருந்தோர்க்கு இனிப்பும் சிற்றுண்டியும் வழங்கப்பட்டன.
டிசம்பர் மாதம் 17ந்தேதி நியூஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கம் பாரதி சொஸைட்டி ஆஃப் அமெரிக்காவுடன் இணைத்து நடத்திய பாரதியார் விழாவின் சிறப்பம்சமாக கவிமாமணி இலந்தை சு இராமசாமி தம் குழுவினருடன் நடத்திய பாரதியார் கதை வில்லுப்பாட்டு நிகழ்ச்சி அமைந்தது. குழந்தைகள் பாரதியார் கவிதைகளை ஒப்புவிக்கும் போட்டி, நடன நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடைபெற்றன.
2013ம் ஆண்டின் நிகழ்ச்சிகளின் சிறப்புக்குத் தமிழ்ச்சங்க செயற்குழு உறுப்பினர்களும், தன்னார்வலர்களும் காரணமாவார்கள் என்றால் மிகையில்லை. அவர்களுக்கெல்லாம் என் நன்றி.
2014 நியூஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கத்தின் வெள்ளிவிழா ஆண்டு. உள்ளம் கவரும் நிகழ்ச்சிகளை அள்ளிக் கொடுக்கப்போகும் ஆண்டு.
உடனடியாகப் பொங்கல் விழா வருகிறது. குழந்தைகளின் கலை நிகழ்வுகளும் ஜெர்சி ரிதும்ஸின் இசை நிகழ்ச்சியும் நடைபெறும்
நியூஜெர்சி தமிழ்ச்சங்கத்தின் ஆண்டுப் புரவலர்களாகச் சேர்ந்து சங்கத்திற்கு ஆதரவு தர வேண்டுகிறேன்.
